The nature and purpose of LUNIRI: LUNIRI is a non-profit organization which supports clinical and basic research in the field of autoimmune diseases, in particular systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). The initiation of a clinical study using low-dose irinotecan in patients with refractory lupus nephritis will be given first priority. If the clinical study succeeds, patients with lupus nephritis and potentially with less severe forms of SLE will benefit from a new therapeutic option for this disease.
